Biography
Andrzej Dawidowski has been active for over 20 years as a Barka Leader in Poland, supporting people affected by homelessness, addiction, imprisonment, or other challenging life circumstances.
He began his own journey with Barka as a resident of one of its communities—having personally experienced homelessness, incarceration, and addiction. With the support of Barka, participation in Alcoholics Anonymous, and his own efforts, he underwent a profound transformation and now helps others on their path to recovery.
Andrzej has served as a Leader in international Barka programmes in England, Ireland, and the Netherlands, where he assisted socially marginalized individuals in returning to Poland and starting a new life.
Today, he is active in Poznań, supporting the Barka community. He engages in discussions with representatives from municipal administrations, students, social workers, and economic and academic institutions. He shares his personal experience of overcoming crisis, demonstrating that change is possible even in the most difficult circumstances.
His story and daily work are a living testament to the fact that support built on trust, relationships, and community can bring about genuine transformation.
