„Barka`s One-Stop-Shop“ in Berlin

The Project

“Barka’s One-Stop-Shop” is a three-year project, starting in October 2025, providing support to homeless EU migrants in Berlin, initially offered in Polish.

Barka Berlin’s services combine outreach street work with a low-threshold advice café, and also include self-help groups and addiction counselling.

Our interdisciplinary team – consisting of a social worker and a peer expert – builds trust and rapport, providing practical support such as referrals to addiction and health programmes, access to emergency accommodation, and legal advice.

Barka helps people in need to navigate the support system and provides ongoing assistance with job searches, aiming to enable sustainable change and integration into the labour market.

Self-help groups and addiction counselling encourage exchange, strengthen community, and help prevent relapses.

The goal is to improve the life prospects of those affected by stabilising their personal circumstances and promoting social integration.

We warmly thank the Deutsches Hilfswerk Foundation and the Hermann Reemtsma Foundation for supporting the “Barka One-Stop-Shop” project.
