A response to the written inquiry submitted by the AfD in the Berlin House of Representatives

Dear Community,

In response to the written inquiry submitted by the AfD in the Berlin House of Representatives (Drucksache 19/21980 dated March 12, 2025) and the reply issued on behalf of the Senate on March 24, 2025, we at Barka have issued a statement clearly and unequivocally distancing ourselves from the policies of the AfD.

Barka provides humanitarian aid and life-saving support in Berlin and Germany, as EU migrants are currently neither adequately cared for nor integrated locally due to the prevailing legal framework.

We have addressed our statement specifically to Senator Kiziltepe, to the staff of the Senate Department for Labour, Social Affairs, Equality, Integration, Diversity and Anti-Discrimination (SenASGIVA), as well as to the spokespersons of the democratic parliamentary groups in the Berlin House of Representatives.

The response from the democratic parliamentary groups has been positive so far. They have supported us in related debates in the House, clearly distanced themselves from the instrumentalisation of our organisation, and accepted our invitation to enter into dialogue with us.

We are very grateful for this and look forward to the next steps of our cooperation in Berlin, starting soon with our first project, the One-Stop Shop, through which we will provide concrete assistance to homeless and precariously housed EU citizens from this autumn and over the next three years.

Vielen Dank.
